Eric B’s Mock Draft 2.0 (Post Wild Card Weekend)

Order Team Prospect Position School Notes
Arizona Cardinals Nick Bosa Edge Ohio State Like most teams with the number one pick, the Cardinals are a mess. They have a tremendous amount of needs. I would not be surprised if they sell the farm for a team willing to trade up, however if they stay put, Nick Bosa is the biggest difference maker in the draft and he makes the Cardinals pass rush relevent. They will go offensive playmaker in round 2.
San Francisco 49ers Josh Allen Edge Kentucky The 49ers are another trade candidate due to the fact that their needs don’t match up with the talent in this draft. They need FS, LB, and WR help, and nobody at these positions are worthy of the #2 pick(yet). Josh Allen DE/OLB can improve his draft stock at the combine and work his way to the top, but either way the 49ers will have to reach for a need with the 2nd overall pick.
New York Jets Ed Oliver DT Houston The Jets need to address the Oline and their secondary at some point, but they cannot pass up the chance to get a true diffrence maker and that player is Ed Oliver. It is difficult to justify an offensive player this high in this years draft.
Oakland Raiders Greedy Williams CB LSU Greedy Williams is an extremely rare talent with size and speed at CB. DT are the best available at this point but the Raiders have two more picks in round 1, and this draft is stacked with DT/DE talent. Why not get the rare CB talent now and address deeper positions later. Oh! and they have to play Kansas City twice a year.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers Deionte Thompson FS Alabama I know what your thinking, how do you not have Quinnen Williams in the top 5? Well thus far in this mock all of these teams outside of the Raiders have decent to good DTs. This is certainly the case for the Tampa Bay Bucs. They have an expensive Defensive Line with solid DTs in Gerald McCoy and Vita Vea, and they despritly need secondary help. I think Greedy Williams in the number 1 target and Thompson is #2.
New York Giants Quinnen Williams DT Alabama I understand that the Giants need to address the QB position, but knowing Dave Gettleman’s track record they cannot afford nor will they reach for any position. Especially with Quinnin Williams on the board. They will take a QB but it will be in later rounds.
Jacksonville Jaguars Daniel Jones QB Duke Jones is the guy with the connections. As we all know it only takes one GM to fall in love with a guy. Jones is coached by David Cutcliffe at Duke. Cutcliffe is the guy who coaches Eli Manning each offseason, I’m sure they met. With the Giants passing on QB, Tom Coughlin likes what he hears about Jones. I think the Jags bring Jones in as a project behind a veteran. Jones name will be connected to the Giants and Jags leading up to the draft. If you dont think this will happen, just remember Mitch Trubiskiy had simular stats to Jones and he was picked before Pat Mahomes and Desean Watson.
Detroit Lions Clelin Ferrell EDGE Clemson The Lions need to work on their pass rush, they are struggling to continually get pressure on opposing QBs. Eventually this Lions team will figure it out.
Buffalo Bills Jonah Williams OT/G Alabama This is the best fit for both sides, Jonah Williams was coached by Brian Daboll (Bills OC) in the past, and the Bills desperately need help on the Oline. Williams is a plug and play G or RT, and both positions are needs for the Bills.
Denver Broncos Dwayne Haskins QB Ohio State The Broncos have to address the QB position, and the new head coach coming in will certainly agree. This is the time to get a offensive leader in the room because Keenum is established as a bridge QB and the entire offensive is really young. Now is the time to draft a QB.
Cincinnati Bengals Devin White LB LSU With Preston Brown and Rey on the last year of their contract, the opportunity to draft a player to hold down the position presents itself.
Green Bay Packers Rashan Gary DT Michigan It will be interesting to see if the Packers retain a 3-4 defense. If they do Gary is a solid DE, if they don’t he will make the DT room one of the best in the league with Mike Daniels.
Miami Dolphins Jachai Polite EDGE Florida I understand that a team will trade up for Dwayne Haskins, and Miami might be a good spot but don’t forget Cameron Wake and William Hayes are on the last year of their contract, and as long as Ryan Tannehill is on the roster pass rusher is a more pressing need.
Atlanta Falcons Jeffery Simmons DT Mississippi State The Falcons need to redevelop this defense, and it starts with the defensive line. Simmons comes in and contributes right away to get this team back on track.
Washington Redskins N’Keal Harry WR Arizona State Could be a QB here but I expect Alex Smith to come back, and adding a weapon like Harry makes this team competitive right away.
Carolina Panthers Dexter Lawrence DT/DE Clemson With Julious Peppers on the last year of his contract, the Panthers focus on filling his shoes with a guy that has a very high ceiling in Lawrance.
Cleveland Browns Greg Little OT Mississippi The idea of adding a playmaker here is certainly intriguing but first things first they need to a true LT to shore up the OL. Now we can start to talk about Clevelands Oline as one of the best in the league.
Minnesota Vikings Cody Ford OG Oklahoma In order for Kirk Cousins to be successful he needs to be standing upright, a big body like Cody Ford will open up the run game and give Cousins more time in the pocket.
Tennessee Titans Christian Wilkins DT Clemson With two OLB on the way out and a potential DT leaving, Tennessee will need to address this gapping hole early. Wilkins will be a quick plug and play pick in round 1.
Pittsburgh Steelers Noah Fant TE Iowa If you want to talk about a high flying offense, Juju, Antonio Brown, James Washington, and now a playmaking TE. I’d say the top end speed TE is just what the Steelers are missing to compete with fast air it out teams.
Seattle Seahawks Byron Murphy CB Washington No one ever knows what the Seahawks are thinking when drafting players early, they always shock people, yet no one argues with their decisions because they win football games. The secondary will need to be rebuilt at some point, and it starts now. Someone has to cover the Rams WRs.
Baltimore Ravens Montez Sweat EDGE Mississippi State Someone will need to play OLB for them next year, Suggs is probably done and we know that Baltimore is built on defense first.
Houston Texans David Edwards OT Wisconsin No brainer here the Texans need to bring in athletic Tackles to fix their offensive line woes.
Oakland Raiders (via Bears) Raekwon Davis DT Alabama After passing on Q Williams earlier, why not take the other half of the dominate Alabama D Line with Davis. Pair him up with Hurst and the Raiders are starting to look like force.
Philadelphia Eagles Deandre Baker CB Georgia I don’t know if the Eagles will re-sign Ron Darby, most likely no and here is his replacement. Baker is a dominate CB who could and probably should be higher than pick 22.
Indianapolis Colts D.K. Metcalf WR Mississippi Metcalf has the potential to be a top NFL WR. He needs to work on his route tree and route running but little doubt exsists that Andrew Luck and Frank Reich cant get him where he needs to be.
Oakland Raiders (via Cowboys) A.J. Brown WR Mississippi The Raiders land their second playmaker of the draft as AJ Brown steps in to fill the shoes of Amari Cooper. AJ Brown is dynamic and primarily plays in the slot. He will give the Raiders some creative schemes on the whiteboard because he is a tremendous route runner in the middle of the field.
Los Angeles Chargers Derrick Brown DT Auburn LA will be looking to replace Mebane on the Dline. If the chargers resign Mebane look for them to find a speedy playmaker like M Brown from Oklahoma.
New England Patriots Zach Allen EDGE Boston College NE stays local as he is picked to play DE for the Pats defense. Maybe the Pats pay Flowers but their mentality is simply replace him through the draft or free agency. The Pats don’t draft WR.
Los Angeles Rams Mack Wilson LB Alabama The Rams draft a true ILB to relieve Mark Barron of his duties. Barron his a versatile player and now with Wilson taking over the ILB position Barron can become a package type player.
Kansas City Chiefs Damien Harris RB Alabama Bama players are flying off the board as usual, and the Chief take the best RB in this draft class. It might be a reach but the Chiefs are back to full form with Kareem Hunt’s replacement.
Green Bay Packers (via Saints) Brian Burns EDGE Florida State The Packers have to get better on defense to be competitive and now they have a DE in Gary to fill Wilkerson’s spot on the Dline and a OLB in Brian Burns to fill the shoes of Clay Matthews. Well Done!
